About This Shoot

A tight space with variety of light sources, I would not call any shoot 'easy' but this space in particular was very demanding. The light mix of daylight, tungsten and LED is a nightmare through the lens especially in a space as contained as this, there is no escape, no way around it, but it must be unraveled!

In order to capture the ambience of the venue it had to be lit very carefully. I used Lowell Omni and Lowell Pro lights to piece together this photo-puzzle, each shot required around 15 different lighting set ups in order to balance the tones of actual lighting that was there and to preserve the true sense of being there. A space such as this has to be chopped neatly into bite size portions, broader shots which I also took that which can be viewed on the architects website kill mystique making things looks very ordinary very quickly.

I would urge anybody faced with a similar conundrum to spend the time breaking each image up by lighting each element independently and bringing it together in post, otherwise you'll probably end up in tears :).
